The Australian Curriculum requires Australian students to be taught Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills and the Directorate considers ICT essential to the delivery of a high-quality education. The Directorate strongly recommends parents and carers permit their student to access the full range of ICT services on offer.

The Directorate provides students with safe and secure access to a range of ICT tools and services, including G Suite for Education, Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud and the Internet, via our SchoolsNET network. Google, Microsoft, and Adobe require some personally identifiable student information - such as first name and last name - to create an account, and this information is stored outside the Directorate. These accounts cannot be created without this information, and without these accounts we are unable to effectively deliver the Australian Curriculum to the student. Students and teachers create and store work on Microsoft, Google, and Adobe products that form part of the Directorate's ICT tools and services.

Information provided to Microsoft, Google, and Adobe is used solely for providing Office 365, G Suite and Creative Cloud services. They do not collect or use student personal information or data for advertising purposes or to create advertising profiles. Under our agreements with Microsoft, Google, and Adobe any ACT Government student data they hold is subject to Australian laws, and they will only disclose it at the direction of the Directorate or if compelled to do so by law.

how you may access personal information the Directorate holds for this student.
how you may complain about a breach of the TPPs, or any TPP code that binds the Directorate, as well as how the Directorate must handle complaints.

Under the TPPs, it is mandatory for us to notify you that educational third-party applications, including but not limited to Google, Microsoft, and Adobe, may receive the student's first name, last name, and email address and could potentially involve data being transmitted internationally.
